What's New at IAFF F-145
Thank You

Updated On: Jun 30, 2009 (16:49:00)

Thanks to all those who pitched in and made the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Summer BBQ a grand event. The event took place at the picnic area between the Warming Hut and Crissy Field and it was great to see the area packed with people.                            (See pictures in the PHOTO GALLERY under Local F-145 Members)

Although the BBQ was supposed to be an icebreaker for the upcoming MDA Summer Camp, unfortunately, Summer Camps across the country have been suspended due to the swine flu epidemic.  It was fabulous to see people come together and make this event special for these wonderful kids.

In addition to the wonderful and lovely staff of the MDA, the event had a fantastic DJ providing music and numerous volunteers on hand to see that things went smoothly and the
GGNRA's new Superintendant Frank Dean was on hand to show his support as well, thank you Mr. Dean.

A special THANK YOU to the CHEF, Local F-145 Vice-President, Brandon Treat and the men who aquired, set-up and protected our site; F-145 Secretary Rob Duggan, Bill Reed and Chris Padian. The BBQ was provided by the Golden Gate Bridge Iron Workers, Operating Engineers Local 3, and a shout out to the GGB Authority for the logisitics of the BBQ delivery.

In addition there were plenty of fire personnel and apparatus on hand to greet the kids and ensure some smiles including; Presidio Fire Department Engine 51 and Battalion 11, as well as San Francisco Fire Department Engine 16, Truck 16 and Engine 13 (on Fire Boat1), a tremendous Thanks to all.

Lastly, the children were treated (if they wished) to an afternoon at the Exploratorium courtesy of Local F-145.  Albeit an initial break-down, I hear it was a fun filled encounter.

On behalf of the men and women of Local F-145, we truly hope everyone had as much fun as we did and thank you again for supporting the Presidio Professional Firefighters and MDA.

Fraternally,

Al Duncan
President

REWARD

Updated On: Jan 16, 2009 (06:50:00)

MISSING!!!

This sign, warning visitors that the ambulance stationed at Rodeo Beach had been removed from service when GGNRA Superintendent Brian O'Neill ordered the ambulance shut down in April 2008, has been posted in front of the fire station to warn visitors of the potential risk.

However, after recent articles raised concerns relating the closure of this ambulance to the tragic loss of life to a NPS visitor on January 04, 2009, the sign has been stolen. TWICE!!!

After the initial theft, the sign was recovered in a GGNRA maintenance yard.  Once returned to its perch, it was again stolen the very next day.

If you have any information to the whereabouts of our public safety announcement sign, please contact Local F-145 at 415-817-1234.

Thank you for your continued support and stay safe.
